<br />
The Complete Guide to Auto Glass Installation is a comprehensive
textbook on auto glass replacement and repair. It outlines the safe and
proper installation and repair of all auto glass used in domestic and
foreign motor vehicles and off road equipment. The Guide is written by
two experts who have 42 total years of experience in the auto glass
industry and 36 years of training experience in both technical and
customer service. The Guide is written with the student in mind. It
includes easy, understandable step by step instructions illustrated with
color photography, diagrams and tables. It aids the instructor with
learning quizzes and exams. In the event of an accident, auto glass
installed incorrectly can result in serious injury and possible death
for the vehicle occupants. Correct auto glass installation: . enhances
vehicle performance . aids in proper accessory operation . contributes
to safety equipment deployment . Improves vehicle appearance . Provides
for the customers' comfort and safety. This Guide not only helps the
student learn how to put in auto glass but also teaches why the correct
procedures are important. Improper auto glass installation can endanger
the vehicle occupants and cause undue liability exposure to the
installation shop. This Guide teaches the proper procedures according to
Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and the ANSI/AGRSS Safety
Standard. Auto glass installation is too important to the well being of
the consumer and to the long term success of the repair shop to put the
responsibility into the hands of others. Auto glass technicians and auto
collision professionals must maintain the highest standard of safety
glazing. This Guide aims to assist in that endeavor."<br />

(the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported)<br />The recall covers E-Series vehicles built from May 12, 2011, through May 26, 2011. Because of faulty manufacturing conditions, some of the windshields may form bubbles after an extended time in hot temperatures, NHTSA said.<br />

<br />
Those are this weeks stories, but how about the ice we are left with?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Impatient drivers trying to remove ice from
windshields often discover creative ways to break the glass.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>We have seen some grim self inflicted
windshield damage caused by clients who got creative with improvised ice
removal. Nobody likes paying to replace their windshield, but it’s all
the more painful when it is damage that could have easily been avoided. <br />
Tip 1: Get yourself a new scraper every year- If the season was nasty, they
the scraper worked hard and during the off season the scraper tends to get beat
around and chipped.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Bad scrapers can
lead to scratches on the glass.<br />
Tip 2: Try an application of <a href="http://scotiaauto.com/products/product_info.php?products_id=69">Aquashield</a>
water repellent, which would help the ice from sticking in the first place.<br />
Tip 3: Run the defroster a little longer to melt the ice slowly - A little
extra time here can save the cost of a glass.<br />
<br />

Provinces have a law making it illegal to pass a school bus that is
stopped to load or unload children.</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list .5in;">School
buses use yellow/red/strobe flashing lights to alert motorists that they
are preparing to stop to load or unload children. Red flashing lights and
an extended stop sign arm signals to motorists that the bus is stopped and
children are getting on or off the bus.</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list .5in;">Most
Provinces require that traffic in both directions stop on undivided
roadways when students are entering or exiting a school bus.</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list .5in;">The
area 10 feet around a school bus is where children are in the most danger
of being hit. Stop your car far enough from the bus to allow children the
necessary space to safely enter and exit the bus.</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list .5in;">Be
alert. Children are unpredictable. Children walking to or from their bus
are usually very comfortable with their surroundings. This makes them more
likely to take risks, ignore hazards or fail to look both ways when
crossing the street.<br style="mso-special-character: line-break;" />

Buckle up and make sure your passengers do too. Seat belt
use among high school students is lower than among other occupants in passenger
vehicles. According to a survey from the Insurance Institute for Highway
Safety, many teens aren't buckling up, even when adults are driving with them
and using belts themselves. Teens often follow by example. The study reported
that more than half of teens were more likely to buckle up if the adult who
dropped them off at school also wore a seat belt. However, when adult drivers
did not use seat belts, only 8% of teens used theirs.</div>

<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; tab-stops: list .5in;">If you have a windshield
chip, always warm up the cold glass slowly.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Ideally, get it repaired.</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; tab-stops: list .5in;">Replace windshield wipers. We
had a harsh winter and the blades get chipped and torn plus they can cause
smearing and reduce visibility.</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; tab-stops: list .5in;">Make sure you check your
vehicle regularly. Cleaning headlamps, keeping the battery in good
condition, checking tires and their tread.</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; tab-stops: list .5in;">Consider a windshield coating
protection like AquaShield to help visibility</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; tab-stops: list .5in;">Keep an essential breakdown
kit in your trunk, with high-visibility clothing, a flashlight, first-aid

<h4>
<i>Without comprehensive glass insurance coverage, a cracked windshield can be a costly repair (Ron Tibert – Scotiaauto.com</i>)</h4>
<br />
Potholes are starting to form, roads are getting bumpy and the temperature fluctuates many times in the day, all contributing to windshields snapping at a weak point like a stone chip.<br />
<br />
Spring time brings out the bits of gravel and road pieces, you see scattered on our highways, so traveling too close to the vehicle in front of you is not a good idea. Prevention and being proactive is a great start to being one of those people who never had a windshield replaced in their life.<br />
<br />
<b>So what should you do in the case that you get a rock chip?</b><br />
<ol>
<li>Pull over in a safe place if you can and use our rock chip cover stickers or clear tape to cover the chip to keep it clean. Obviously, do not do this step if the chip is in the critical viewing area. </li>
<li>Lets save your windshield and give our shop a call or send a quote <a href="http://www.scotiaauto.com/quote.htm" target="_blank">through our website</a> - If you have comprehensive insurance coverage, you maybe covered under your plan and the cost is usually free with no deductible. We have insurance partnerships and computer systems in place to verify coverage and billing for you.</li>
</ol>
<br />
Sometimes the crack can spread seconds after the impact while driving. Quite interesting to see but can be scary and has the driver wondering if the windshield will blow out on them.<br />
<br />
If the windshield is cracked you most likely will need to <a href="http://www.scotiaauto.com/Windshield-Repair.htm" target="_blank">replace it</a>. Depending on your insurance coverage, you may be eligible for free replacements, which means absolutely no out of pocket expense to you. Your insurance claim will cover the majority of the cost and we’ll cover the rest. Eligibility is based on your specific auto insurance company.<br />
<br />
<b>So what legal action can you do to get your money back?</b><br />
<br />
Experience in the past has suggested that you may just be wasting your time chasing down the vehicle and actually trying to get any settlement. If the rock or object came from an unsecured load you have a better chance of getting help replacing the glass.<br />
<br />
So let’s not travel too close to the vehicle ahead of you and we will welcome the warmer days of spring.<br />

Our society has turned towards quick fixes. We demand immediate solutions to
problems and obstacles. The downside to most instant solutions is they are
not always sound, leaving us frustrated. So, when a windshield chip or crack
happens who has the time to remain at a garage for up to half a day? No one!
Scotia Auto Glass has been a 100 per cent mobile glass replacement and
repair operation for over 30 years. "We are all about saving time and
money for each client. We don't have long waits and we don't require a minimum
amount of bookings before we will come to an area. If someone needs glass
repair for their vehicle, home, commercial property or boat we are quickly
on the way," explains Ron Tibert, owner and operator of Scotia Auto Glass.
This premium service doesn't come with a premium price tag. The mobile
service is of no extra cost to the customer. "We are all about customer

"A quick email or phone call from a client to one of our trained
technicians gives us the information we need to get the ball rolling on the job and all
our quotes are free. If the client describes a bulls-eye crack, half moon
crack or spider crack we know most often they can be repaired," says
Tibert. "Glass chips can spread very quickly and should be dealt with right away
or they will lead to windshield replacement." Windshield repair and
replacement can be done in the home owners' driveway or garage. "The entire job
usually takes less than and hour and the client can stay in the comfort of their own
home or office." Scotia Auto Glass is also approved by all major insurance
companies. This ensures quick processing of claims and all work comes with a
lifetime warranty. "Our workmanship is guaranteed for as long as you own
your vehicle." Scotia Auto Glass also has access to the largest warehouses
in Canada. This means the customers don't have long waits for materials.
Safety is of the utmost importance to Scotia Auto Glass. "A windshield is
a key component in the structural integrity of a vehicle. Having a repair done
correctly and quickly is critical to the safety of passengers." Ron and
his technicians are constantly training and upgrading to offer the best
solutions to their customers. "We aren't stumped by a challenge. We always
try to come up with the best solutions to serve the client's needs."

This can cause a chipped windshield to break, making the car unsafe to drive. Halifax’s Q104 has a twitter “call out” to find and photo the biggest potholes in Nova Scotia. (<a href="http://twitter.com/#!/Q104Halifax">@Q104Halifax</a>)<br /><br />“HRM would like to advise residents that Municipal Operations crews will be working to patch potholes in the coming days.” - says Halifax website <a href="http://www.halifax.ca/snow/">http://www.halifax.ca/snow/</a> and more information on potholes can be found at <a href="http://www.halifax.ca/works/potholes.html ">http://www.halifax.ca/works/potholes.html </a><br /><br />A windshield provides 30% of a car’s structural strength and if damaged by a crack, it requires an immediate replacement. Around one in six car windshields have a chip which can be quickly and easily repaired to make the windshield as good as new, usually at no cost to the vehicle owner. <br /><br /><a href="http://www.scotiaauto.com/about.htm">Ron Tibert</a>, of Scotia Auto Glass says: “Drivers are forced to hit potholes while driving since it is unsafe to jerk the wheel in traffic, and are absorbing an increasing bill for the poor state of some roads. However by getting a chip repaired before it turns into a crack, drivers can protect themselves from an expensive insurance claim and make certain their windshield is as strong as new.” <br /><br />It is estimated that 80% of Nova Scotia car owners have comprehensive insurance and nearly all insurance companies will cover rock chip repairs for free. Scotia Auto Glass, a company that comes to you, will repair your windshield onsite to further reduce the risk to driver’s vehicles. Deductibles for a cracked windshield average about $250.<br /><br />Scotia Auto Glass is an exclusive mobile service company that can repair or replace all types of auto glass at client’s home or office. Scotia Auto Glass is insurance approved and recommended by many car dealerships. These fluorinated compounds apply in just minutes to a clean, dry windshield or any exterior glass surface, and lasts up to 6 times longer than silicone-based products.” - www.aquapel.com (02/17/2010)</span><br /><br />Ever avoid driving at night? Do you like intermittent wipers because of the constant wiper chatter distraction while driving? Would you rather not scrape your windshield in the morning? And does your windshield not seem to be as clear as it used to be?<br /><br />Technology advancement of glass has come along way from fire and sand. Some of the top projects today are the development of glass that reduces fuel consumption and increasing the non-reflective efficiency of solar cells. A PPG sales representative some years ago came to me with a new product call Aquapel. What is it you ask? Basically he told me that it is a revolutionary glass treatment developed for the aerospace industry that repels rain, dirt, and grime. It even reduces the blinding glare of oncoming lights so you can see clearly at night. The salesman also said that Aquapel is designed to form a chemical bond with glass that creates a water resistant barrier and that can last up to 6 months.<br /><br />So, rain beads on the windshield and rolls off to maintain better visibility and safer driving conditions, we all can use that. The difference was and still is amazing! According to the Aquapel website it also makes it easier to clear ice, snow, and dirt from the windshield because the glass is completely sealed. This is a good thing this time of year in Lunenburg County Nova Scotia as well as any place.<br /><br />Where can you get some? Most car dealers and glass companies (such as Scotia Auto Glass) offer the service which retails for about $29.95 before you need to comeback for another treatment 6 months later. Finally, you should ask your installer to check your wiper blades as well, since some models wear out between six months and a year.<br /><br />If you have to drive, you might as well get the most from your windshield.<br /><br />For more information on getting Aquapel or Aquapel for your service center see our website at <a href="http://www.scotiaauto.com">www.scotiaauto.com</a> or call Ron Tibert at Scotia Auto Glass @ 902-523-1180<br /><br />Contact: <br />Ron Tibert, Sales and Marketing<br />Scotia Auto Glass <br />902-523-1180 / 902-456-5201<br /><a href="http://www.scotiaauto.com">www.scotiaauto.com</a><br />###Ron Tiberthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13404028224242101204noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6332421513791920809.post-57082235795489535452009-09-16T19:35:00.000-07:002009-09-16T19:56:16.216-07:00Scotia Auto Glass Announces the Opening of its Newest Mobile Store Location in South Shore, Nova Scotia<div class="Section1"> <h1>Scotia Auto Glass Announces the Opening of its Newest Mobile Store Location in <st1:place st="on"><st1:city st="on">South Shore</st1:city>, <st1:state st="on">Nova Scotia</st1:state></st1:place> </h1> <p><i>Scotia Auto Glass, a Nova Scotian automotive, residential and commercial glass installation, repair and replacement company, announces the opening of its newest mobile store location in South Shore, Nova Scotia.</i> </p> <p>Bridgewater/Lunenburg, <st1:state st="on">Nova Scotia</st1:state> September 16, 2009 – Scotia Auto Glass, a Nova Scotian automotive, residential and commercial glass installation, repair and replacement company, announces the opening of its newest free mobile store location in <st1:place st="on"><st1:city st="on">South Shore</st1:city>, <st1:state st="on">Nova Scotia</st1:state></st1:place>. </p> <p class="MsoNormal"><!--[if gte vml 1]><v:shapetype id="_x0000_t75" coordsize="21600,21600" spt="75" preferrelative="t" path="m@4@5l@4@11@9@11@9@5xe" filled="f" stroked="f"> <v:stroke joinstyle="miter"> <v:formulas> <v:f eqn="if lineDrawn pixelLineWidth 0"> <v:f eqn="sum @0 1 0"> <v:f eqn="sum 0 0 @1"> <v:f eqn="prod @2 1 2"> <v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelWidth"> <v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelHeight"> <v:f eqn="sum @0 0 1"> <v:f eqn="prod @6 1 2"> <v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelWidth"> <v:f eqn="sum @8 21600 0"> <v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelHeight"> <v:f eqn="sum @10 21600 0"> </v:formulas> <v:path extrusionok="f" gradientshapeok="t" connecttype="rect"> <o:lock ext="edit" aspectratio="t"> </v:shapetype><v:shape id="_x0000_s1027" type="#_x0000_t75" href="www.scotiaauto.com" target="_blank" style="'position:absolute;" button="t"> <v:fill detectmouseclick="t"> <v:imagedata src="http://www.scotiaauto.com/images/scotia_ad2.jpg" title="scotia logo"> <w:wrap type="square"> </v:shape><![endif]--><!--[if !vml]--><br /></p><h1><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYgZRPhFio0q8DVy0ewr8p5jlLhya8BzkOV3DUT7HpPEJsQlu0TNpUZqMDV5tHkTnQGW6a7rRaefcEzCWI_hzTYTNoC9zYYic-lk1G-mozTrjsUb0pa-7ifmmMoRTbz0w0Q9Cwh4xllege/s1600-h/scotia+logo.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 270px; height: 140px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYgZRPhFio0q8DVy0ewr8p5jlLhya8BzkOV3DUT7HpPEJsQlu0TNpUZqMDV5tHkTnQGW6a7rRaefcEzCWI_hzTYTNoC9zYYic-lk1G-mozTrjsUb0pa-7ifmmMoRTbz0w0Q9Cwh4xllege/s320/scotia+logo.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5382262259455772498" border="0" /></a></h1><p class="MsoNormal"><br /><br />"The opening of our new store in <st1:city st="on">Bridgewater</st1:city> is an important step towards our goal of servicing the entire <st1:place st="on"><st1:state st="on">Nova Scotia</st1:state></st1:place> market," said Ron Tibert, Founder of Scotia Auto Glass.
